Project overview

Project Name: Qanvas - Data Collection App

Platform: Cross-platform suite including a WPF desktop application, a Xamarin mobile application, and a web-based share center.

Client/Industry: Professionals requiring data collection, aiming to digitize and streamline the process of filling out forms and managing collected data.

Led UX design for the Qanvas suite, tools for creating and managing custom-built forms while translating technical requirements into intuitive workflows. Improved usability across the product and collaborated closely with engineering to ensure scalable, consistent solutions in a technically complex environment.

Challenge vs solution

Challenge

Business professionals required to collect data rely on the old-fashioned method of filling paper forms. This data, however, must be manually converted to digital format for further processing.
These are some of the challenges that our interviewed users are facing:

  • field locations do not have wi-fi access
  • time and effort spent to process data from paper to computer system
  • existing software does not meet users requirements to share, revise, and manage data
  • cost limitations

Solution

The team already had an idea of a form-creation software which would work offline and allow complete control of creating forms. It was build as a WPF application using Telerik libraries. It utilises features such as drag and drop, add customisable questions typical to forms: input field, drop-down selection menu, chceck box ...etc. Next, the following development accompanied this software:

  • mobile application which allows upload of custom forms and offers data collection offline
  • synch feature on mobile application enables data sharing when connections to wi-fi are available
  • a web-based share centre offering upload of revised forms, sharing forms between teams and processing collected data
